Garth Brooks comes to Lamar Porter Field

This past Saturday, Lamar Porter Field hosted a baseball clinic put on by Garth Brooks and his Teammates for Kids Foundation. Over 75 kids showed up to get instruction from MLB players Cliff Lee, Travis Wood, Dustin Mosely, and Jonathan Pettibone as well as the UALR baseball team. After a morning filled with baseball drills and games, the kids gathered around to hear an inspiring talk from Garth Brooks. Go to the photos page to see pictures of the event.
First Phase of Improvements is now Complete

Thanks to all of the generous donations and grants that have been received, the first phase of construction is now complete. Improvements include stadium waterproofing, field irrigation, installation of a bullpen slab at 3rd base, and new bathrooms in the stadium concourse. Baseball season will be here soon so come see these great changes to this historic stadium.

Additional stadium and field improvements have been approved by the Lamar Porter Revitalization Committee. These improvements include stadium waterproofing, field irrigation, a new slab on the 3rd base side, and hardware/improvements to various doors.

Cliff and Kristen Lee Announce Matching Gift Campaign!

The Lamar Porter Revitalization Committee announces that Kristen & Cliff Lee will match gifts until 01/15/2014. Over the last 6 months contributions of over $100,000 have been donated toward the project. Another $70,000 matched by the Lee’s would provide additional funding needed to completethe work on Phase 1.

Stadium Security Improved

Thanks to the generous donations that have been received, improvements have begun at the Lamar Porter Complex. In order to enhance security at the stadium, overhead doors have been installed at each entrance to the concourse. Security measures are also being made to the stadium's exterior windows.
MLB All-Star Cliff Lee and His Wife Kristen Join the Renovation Campaign

The Lamar Porter Complex Revitalization Committee is excited to announce that Arkansas native and current MLB All-Star Cliff Lee and his wife Kristen have joined our campaign to renovate Lamar Porter Field. On November 5, 2013 the Lee's hosted a fundraiser in their backyard where they announced that they would be making a matching gift to the Lamar Porter Complex.

Brooks Robinson to be Honorary Chair

Little Rock, AR - MLB Hall of Famer and Little Rock native, Brooks Robinson agreed to become the Honorary Chair of the Lamar Porter Complex Revitalization Committee. In his letter of support, Mr. Robinson stated, "Not only did I sharpen my baseball skills at Lamar Porter, I even once won a bubble blowing contest there and proudly rode a new bicycle home. The memories of playing there and the friendships that I made have lasted all my life."

The Trustees of Lamar Porter accepted a significant financial gift from an anonymous donor to initiate the process of identifying what will be necessary to renovate and restore the Lamar Porter field and grounds. This gift will be used to underwrite surveys, engineering reports and to create as built drawings. This is the first step in creating a master plan for Lamar Porter.
